Here is a breakdown of the steps of my painting process.  This is the first time that I am doing this, hopefully in time, I will do a better job.

My palette: (Clockwise)Titanium White, Lemon Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Transparent Oxide Brown, Ultramarine Blue, Black (prepared by mixing Transparent Red Oxide and Ultramarine Blue), Two greys of different values prepared by mixing the Black (mentioned above) with different amount of Titanium White.

I use a disposable grey paper palette, as it makes cleanup easy.

Below is the picture of my setup, this is from a slightly different angle to give the viewer an idea of an overview of the whole.  Offcourse I am not trying to be a camera, I am adjusting and tweaking as I please.

#1:  This is a Double primed linen (by Raymar), 6″ x 8″.  I have painted it grey because my background is all dark.  I typically tone my painting surface with some earth/dark colors (usually with Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre).

#2: I put down my basic layout with thinned paint.  I adjust, clean-up and try different things if needed.  (As you can see, initially I had the egg shell away from the glass, but then I moved it closer later on).

#3:  I Lay down all the paint on the painting surface.  The idea is to get the colors on the surface as quickly and as close as possible.  Once this is done, the fun begins.

#4:  Now the process of pushing and pulling the paint begins.  The values, color, temperature, edges get adjusted.
