Here is a small painting (5″x7″) of a Rose in a pitcher. Enjoy!
Rose & Pitcher
For my Artist Friends:- I have gone back to Raymar Art panels. They are sublime. They don’t suck the oil out of the paint (like gessoed panels) and have the right amount of tooth to grab the paint.
Meet Carlos. This gentleman was busy on his laptop when I sketched him, and as he was leaving I stopped him and showed him his portrait (this is something I rarely do). Carlos was delighted and amused at seeing his portrait done by a stranger.
This is Harold. He actually caught me in the act. When I saw that he had figured out, that I was sketching him, I started to pack and leave. But he came over and started chatting with me, he turned out to be a very cool guy and gave me permission to complete his portrait. To my amusement, Harold pulled out his sketch book that had brains drawn on every page,… he is a psychologist.
I guess you were expecting to see a landscape. Well, that was the intent, when I packed up my Pochade box (i.e. painting kit), hoping to get a few hours in the evening, during my business trip to San Jose, California. It was not to be, because the work hours were long and I did not get the opportunity to head out to any of the scenic locations in San Jose.
So I did the next best thing and that was to paint in my hotel room. I got a flower vase from the dinning room of the Hotel (thanks to the hotel staff) and painted this tiny 5″x7″. I don’t know how long it took, because I was watching TV and was in a very relaxed mode and guess what? it was not burning hot, like my Garage-Studio in Texas, so it was a nice change.
Flowers in a Vase
I had the privilege of watching Anna Rose Bain paint a demo portrait, at the Trinity Arts Guild (Fort Worth ,Texas) on Monday, last week, (Sep 9th, 2013). She is a master and painted with so much ease, something you can only attain by hard work and putting in the mileage on your brushes. I am hoping to take a workshop with her in the future.
I took the photograph below, using my iPhone and the lighting condition was not the best. The painting was much better than what you see.
I have been quite busy at work and traveling a lot, so I have been sketching mostly. Stay tuned for more of my work down the road.
